A Visit To Table & Main: The New Southern American Cuisine Tavern Opening This Week

A sneak peek of Table & Main, which opens on Canton Street this week.

The restored housed at 1028 Canton Street in Roswell - right next to Plum Tree Salon - is the prospective new home of Table & Main: a Southern Tavern. As a specialty restaurant that is offering American cuisine with both a Southern and historic Roswell flavor, Table & Main is promising to be a flavorful addition to the community.

Just another reason why Roswell rocks!

Last week, I headed up to the building where renovations are currently being made to accommodate Table & Main - and I liked what I saw. The restaurant is also featuring a tavern; it’s a designated zone where you “unplug from the world,” according to their advertising. The homey, earthy look to the restaurant has a nice feel. The hospitality and attention offered by the manager and the chef was really great.

When I stopped by just a few days ago, Kellie was gracious enough to let me interrupt her visit and welcome me in. I was excited to meet she and husband Ted Lahey, the new executive chef at Table & Main. Cooking up historic Southern flavors and orchestrating a kitchen that’s well run is a main part of Ted’s life, but he still makes time to play with his daughter, Mollie, kayak and garden. Back in 2003, Ted graduated from Johnson and Wales University and worked for Chef Michael White at the Fiamma Osteria in New York City.

I also got a sneak peek at the restaurant's menu. Table & Main is going to feature appetizers, sides, entrees and desserts. If you like Southern food then the Hogs ‘n Quilts will be a great pick. Vegetables include okra and beets with peanuts, plus plenty more!

Ryan Pernice is the general manager and as the head of the new Table & Main restaurant, he’s holding a job he’s always wanted. He was a cook in Alpharetta at the young age of 13 and studied restaurant management at Cornell University. His hometown is Roswell and he’s thrilled to offer the town where he was born a piece of his vision.

Table & Main Restaurant is opening in just a few days. I just got a copy of the menu (see photo) and the food looks lovely. Take a look for a chance to see the menu before the restaurant has even opened.
