Four Apps You Could Use Every Day

Four useful phone apps for business and fun you can start using right away.

I recently returned from Mega Agent Camp in Austin, TX where is based. It's a great event for top agents and one thing I’ve been thrilled to bring away was learning about these immediate gratification tools. I’m hoping that you’ll find the following list of four useful apps just as cool and useful as I found them. They truly rock! Houzz is by far my favorite and it’s rather addictive. I need a venti latte and two hours before I open that one again.

1. Localmind. Localmind is available as an iPhone app or web app.  With Localmind, you’re able to check directly into with Foursquare, Gowalla, or Facebook. And when you do, Localmind allows you to send questions and receive answers about what is going on, realtime, at places where you are or places you love. This useful app is map based and allows you to get answers to questions like, “How crowded is my favorite restaurant?”  With an answer as specific as “I can count only two empty seats at the bar!” this useful little app can really serve a purpose.

2. Yobongo. This is a useful app that is basically a way to chat with real people, in real-time. Catch up with a group of friends at the park, or talk with local people about where a sushi restaurant is located. It’s not like Twitter because you don’t “follow” people. This useful little app is as simple as watching a general conversation between locals and joining if there’s interest!

3. Qwiki. This one isn’t just a useful app (although it is!), it’s also a platform where you can create your own interactive, on-the-fly multimedia presentations of compiled information. It’s fairly new, with the iPad app just coming out April 2011. In the iPad app, the Qwiki serves proves useful by allowing the user to browse Google Maps and locate Qwiki’s annotations linked to relevant content by location.

4. Houzz. Available for the iPhone from the app store, Houzz is the largest collection of home design ideas currently on the net! It’s perfect for idea grabbing for home staging and re-design. This unique app lets you visit virtual rooms that offer links on where to buy what you see. Jump around to see examples of specific living spaces and rooms in your local area and style. Or, browse and search according to the type of room you want, such as a modern kid’s room or contemporary kitchen.
