Saying Goodbye to old negative obstacles keeping you from your New Year Resolution and Goals

No doubt you’re being inundated with New Year resolution plans and ploys, and perhaps this blog is no different, but WILL be different is what you DO with the plans and information.

When starting any new challenge – whether it is a fitness challenge, financial challenge, or even a stop-drinking challenge, begin by setting a date, creating goals and outlining action items.  January 1st is a great time to start a new program because it is emotionally charged with excitement and enthusiasm for the year to come, and it also a habit that we have embraced – some of us for many years.

Begin to identify the potential obstacles that could get in the way of you accomplishing your goals and creating your new good habits. There may be external AND internal obstacles.

Your external obstacles may be more obvious – financial, geographical, lack of support or resources or even toxic relationships.  Problem-solve around these areas and do your best to reduce or eliminate them.

Your INTERNAL obstacles are the things within YOU, such as drinking too much or eating too much. Other internal obstacles may not be as obvious, such as people-pleasing or procrastination.  Take some time to get honest with yourself and begin to consciously change some of these habits as well.

Then begin focusing on the YOU that you have always envisioned yourself, living the life you’ve always wanted to live – happy, healthy, prosperous and in-control.  Happy New Year!!
