Be Kind to Animals Week is coming up in May. So, to get ready, the Atlanta Humane Society is sponsoring art and essay contests. To enter, kids can submit an original drawing or painting to showcase what being kind to animals means to them. Teens should submit a 200-word essay on why they should win the Mariel Hannah Humane Heroes Award, which recognizes teenagers between the ages of 13 and 18 who have performed an extraordinary act of kindness to benefit animals. The deadline for entries is March 31. Visit the “Featured Events” section at www.atlantahumane.org for more information.
