Edward Joseph Langan, 77: Sales manager, youth sports coach

A funeral Mass will be held Thursday for Edward Joseph Langan of Roswell.

The service will be at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Alpharetta. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at The Northside Chapel, Alpharetta. 

Langan, 77, died Dec. 26 from complications of Alzheimer’s disease.

He was born on March 10, 1936 in Philadelphia, Pa., to James and Agnes Langan. 

From 1957 to 1959 Langan served in the United States Army, including 18 months in Orleans, France. Upon completion of his military service he enrolled at St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia.

He enjoyed a successful 36-year career in sales management with Boston Gear, retiring in 1998. He was an avid golfer and youth sports coach, continuing to coach for years after his own sons had grown.

Langan is survived by Katie Gallagher Langan, his wife of 52 years, and his four sons Edward JR (Marianne), Michael (Jane), Paul (Sharon), and Tim (Kim), as well as his 13 grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his brother Jim Langan, and is survived by his siblings, Jack Langan, Eileen Calder and Jayne Fowler.
