Katie Glover Emerson, Loving Wife, Mother of 4, Dies Suddenly at 39

She leaves behind a husband and three children.

Katie Glover Emerson, 39, loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend went home to her Savior on Friday, Oct. 18, 2013. Her passing was sudden and unexpected to her friends and family, but long awaited by her Lord.

Our loving Katie was the firstborn daughter of David and Lee Glover and wife of Kyle Emerson. Katie grew up in Roswell and Gainesville. She graduated from Gainesville High School in 1992. She went on to graduate with highest honors from Samford University and the Ida Moffett School of Nursing in Birmingham AL. Katie, Kyle, and family are active members of Grace Fellowship Church, Cumming, Georgia.

While at Samford, Katie met her soul mate, Kyle. Their love, beginning in good friendship, grew and blossomed into a wonderful family, strengthened through the loss of Zachariah, and continues into eternity. Katie was born to be a Mom. Even as a little girl and from her earliest days, she cared for her younger brother, Gabe, and little sister, Anna Lee. Katie always was the mother, administrator, and organizer in all family events. She was a great friend to many: loyal, steady, faithful, and of wise counsel. She brought great joy to her family throughout her whole life. She enjoyed close and loving relationships with her mom and dad, her brother and sister, and with her loving Aunt Lynda, who meant the world to her. Katie could bring life to a room simply with her smile and sound of her voice. Ever-caring, ever-helpful, ever-forgiving and ever-loving was she… truly a virtuous woman.

Katie and Kyle began as friends, and later, on a carriage ride in Atlanta, Kyle asked for her hand in marriage. At that moment and later lived out in their lives, God blessed and affirmed a marriage made in Heaven for over 18 years. From cheering Kyle on in his early charity bike ride across America, to dates to the Cheesecake Factory, and later sharing NASCAR races together with the whole family, their love grew, and God blessed them greatly.

Katie and Kyle were blessed with four children, three of whom are greatly saddened to have lost their Mommy on Friday, but one, Zachariah, who is again in her loving arms. Katie’s kids were her pride and joy. She was involved in every aspect of her children’s lives, even homeschooling them all at times in their lives. Ben, in reality her second “firstborn,” is so much like his Mom in many ways. Katie was his greatest cheerleader in everything he did. At every one of Ben’s football games, one could always hear Katie’s voice yelling for “Big Ben.” The bond between Katie and the tender-hearted Josiah was unique. She was always there to encourage her little “Boy King.” Katie treasured her time with her Anna Gracelyn, her precious, chosen daughter. Make-up, jewelry, and manicures were special pleasures for them to share.
