Robert Eugene Rader of Roswell, who died on Nov. 29, 2013.

Robert Eugene Rader, PE, of Roswell, Georgia passed away on Friday, November 29th, 2013. Born on May 1st, 1932 in Normal, IL to George Hubert Rader and Helen Loretta Simmons Rader, Bob was raised on a farm, and later grew up in Washington and Ellsworth, IL where his father owned businesses.

He earned a degree in civil engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, pledged Theta Xi, and was co-captain of the football team. Deployed to England as a lieutenant in the US Army Corps of Engineers, he met the love of his life, Mary Ann Lewis, also an American military officer, whom he married in 1957.

After first settling in Jackson Michigan, Bob relocated the family to Roswell in 1970, practicing his profession locally before founding his own engineering firm in 1981. A member for 43 years, Bob served Roswell United Methodist Church in many capacities after retirement.

Bob Rader is survived by his wife, Ann Rader, RN, sons Jeff Rader (Carolyn), Eric Rader, DMD (Bridgette), and daughter Lori Rader Jacobs (Michael), seven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, a step-great-granddaughter, and an extended family who loved him dearly.

Bob was known for his strength and wisdom, his kind and gentle nature, and a virtuous happy life where his family always came first. His marriage was his greatest and most important relationship, and a model to others. His reputation as an engineer was built on expertise and integrity.

As an American citizen, he had a firm sense of duty and was strong in his convictions while respectful of others. He led by example, was a great inspiration and profoundly influenced the lives of those around him for the better. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him and will not be forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to North Fulton Community Charities, www.NFCC.org, where he volunteered.
Memorial services will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, December 7th at Roswell United Methodist Church, with Rev. Dr. J Harvey West officiating. Visitation on December 6th, 5-7 pm at Bob and Ann’s home.
