Brad Pitt's Mom Anti-Obama Letter Receives National Attention

Jane Pitt, mother of Actor Brad Pitt, sent an anti-Obama letter to her local newspaper and is now getting death threats. She is, however, getting support from Angelina Jolie's father, Jon Voight.

Jon Voight, father of Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie, has come out in defence of actor Brad Pitt's mother, Jane Pitt, who recently made national headlines with a letter to the editor of the Springfield, Mo. News-Leader.

According to the UK Daily Mail, Pitt has now been frightened into silence because of death threats she's received in response to her letter to the editor.  In the letter, Pitt referred to President Barack Obama as a "liberal who supports the killing of unborn babies and same-sex marriage" and encouraged fellow Christians not to vote against Romney just because he is a Mormon. Pitt's letter was in response to a June opinion piece by Richard Stoecker in which he wrote, "The conscience of many Christians will not allow them to vote for a Mormon."

"Like me, their vote will be for none of the above, or as Romney protester the Rev. Bill Keller has suggested, they might write in the name of Jesus on their ballots," Stoecker opined. (Read the full letter here.)

Citing concerns regarding the Mormon view of women and perceived tritheistic and polytheistic beliefs, Stoecker added "I hope that wealthy and powerful GOP leaders who feel Romney will guarantee their victory will come to see that he likely will guarantee defeat."

Pitt argued that regardless of Romney's Mormonism, Christians should still vote for him because to do otherwise would be casting a vote for a man who "sat in Jeremiah Wright’s church for years" and "did not hold a public ceremony to mark the National Day of Prayer."

Pitt asked that Christians spend time in prayer before deciding to vote against Romney, a man she described as a family man with high morals, business experience and "shares Christian conviction concerning homosexuality" and abortion.

Pitt has come under fire since penning the letter, according to Examiner.com, including now reported death threats. However, she is not without supporters, including Voigt, who reportedly told FOX411’s Pop Tarts column that he agrees with her opinion.

Voight has been outspoken against Obama before, reportedly penning his own letter to the Washington Times in June 2010 accusing Obama of promoting anti-semitism throught the world.

At this time there doesn't appear to be any public comments by either Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie about their outspoken parents.
