How Will You Spend This Week Between Holidays?

It's a hectic time of year, but the week between Christmas and New Year's seems sometimes like some much needed "free time." How will you spend your last week of 2012?

Christmas 2012 can be checked off the list; the hustle and bustle to create a perfect holiday memory is ... just a memory. So how do you traditionally spend the week between Christmas and New Year’s?

Visiting relatives?

For many, the week between Christmas and New Year’s is all about travel — either home or the continuance of visitations. AAA and HIS Global Insight say the 2012-13 year-end holiday should see about 93.3 million travelers venturing at least 50 miles from home — a 1.6 percent increase from a year ago. About 90 percent of that travel will be via automobile and 6 percent by air. In Georgia, 2.4 million people are projected to be traveling by auto and 250,000 by air and other means during the holidays.

Turn your attention to home?

Spending some time with the kids and their new toys, or trying out that new food processor on some recipes? Or just taking a nap to catch up after all the craziness? Or are you one of those that cleans up all proof of the holidays by taking down the decorations and getting the house back into some semblance of normality? This is a great week to stay at home, finish up (or start) a few home projects and maybe make a valiant effort at ridding the fridge of the leftovers!

Shopping?

After-Christmas sales this year should result in bargains to rival any Black Friday deal. For many, this is the best time to get in the holiday spirit and get the most bang for your buck with those gift cards.

Preparing for New Year's?

Whether you’re cooking, baking, decorating and planning for a New Year’s extravaganza at home or dieting and shopping for the perfect little black dress for an evening of champagne and 2013 tiaras, the week seems woefully short as a transition period between festivities!
