Local Stories: Reunion at Chick-fil-A in Roswell

Roswell Patch was recently sent the letter below by local resident, Janet Russell. She had originally shared her story with the Chick-fil-A corporate offices and decided it was appropriate to also share with her fellow Roswell neighbors - we agreed.

Many years ago I was volunteer at Star House in Roswell. It is an afterschool program for children at risk. I helped with homework, reading and English. I loved the children who were so motivated. In fall of 2011, I visited the and from behind  the counter I heard "Oh Miss Janet," I am so glad to see you."

I looked and said, "Oh my goodness, I know you, but who are you?"

"I am Fatima. You taught me English at Star House when I was little. I remember so well how you used to stop the cars when our group was trying to cross the street so you could take us to the library. You were so funny and you made all the cars stop for us."

Well, Fatima came from behind the counter and gave me a BIG HUG. She told me she had been married for a few years and that she was going to have her first baby...a little girl. I was so happy to see her and for her success in life. She is as sweet today as she was a little girl. And I am so lucky to have found her again at Chick-fil-A...just a few miles from where I stopped all the cars. Looks like the trips to the library paid off. 

She is such a credit to Chick-fil-A and to the goals of Star House. She is a real star.
