Star 94 Hosts A-List Lounge with Ed Sheeran at TopGolf in Alpharetta.

“Now I don’t ever want to be perfect, cause I’m a singer that you never want to see shirtless, and I accept the fact that someone’s gotta win worst-dressed...” (Take it Back, Ed Sheeran).

The lucky Star 94 winners disagree with Ed Sheeran’s lyrics. They think the singer/songwriter is already perfect and the crowd showed their love for him last night at TopGolf in Alpharetta.

Tuesday night at the new golf facility, Star 94 hosted an intimate performance with the one and only Ed Sheeran. Your only chance to get into this small event was to win Star 94’s radio contest.  There were about one hundred people, plus a set of twins that were lucky enough to be let in because it was their birthday (yes, Sheeran did sing them Happy Birthday).

After Cindy and Jimmy from the morning show gave Ed Sheeran an introduction, he came in and started singing right away. Wearing his black high top converse and beyond soft black t-shirt, he started playing a new song, “I’m a Mess” off of his second album Multiply , then answered fan questions. Throughout the hour Sheeran was energized and genuinely wanted to answer his fan’s questions the best he could. I was very surprised at how energetic he was after his busy schedule from playing the Today Show and then jetting off to play the Philly Jam on the Fourth of July and flying to various cities each night. He also played at Scooter Braun’s (Justin Bieber’s manager) wedding a few nights before where he was happy to be a “wedding singer”.

One of the questions a fan asked was about his advice for following a passion and succeeding in life. Because Sheeran never finished high school, he was making sure he put the idea out to stay in school (mostly because their were many parents present), and to work very hard to get to where you want to be. Sheeran also told his fans to take risks like he does often, like when he wanted to play Madison Square Garden.

Then he played “Thinking Out Loud”, “Don’t”, and “Sing”, all from his new album Multiply. Sheeran also mentioned that he will be filming a music video for “Don’t” today in Atlanta.

After he played four songs he took pictures with all of the fans, and everyone was sent home with an autographed photo.

Even though we all know how angelic Sheeran’s voice is, it sounds even better in person. Believe me, it’s unreal. You can’t even explain why but it just is. He sings every song with passion and you can tell he really loves his job and playing to his fans. So who cares if he doesn’t look like Zac Efron or Robert Downey Jr., he is an amazing and talented young man that everyone should be listening to. Later this year in September, he will be coming back to Atlanta on tour at Gwinnett Arena so make sure you get your tickets!

Thanks to Star 94 for a wonderful event and to TopGolf for having the event at their facility!
