The Great Escape: Color Me Happy

Nothing in life is black and white. Embrace life's vibrant color at a unique painting class.

Is there anything better than a good belly laugh? The kind that makes your stomach hurt and brings tears to your eyes? Well, laughter really is the best medicine for moms who need an escape from everyday.

Each week, we’ll tell you about one great idea to give you a much deserved break, and make your life a little easier, maybe a whole lot easier.

Just for Giggles is a business that caters to busy moms who long for a fun night out with the girls. This unassuming store in trendy Milton offers lots of laughs in a 2 and half hour do-it-yourself painting session.

“It was a lot of fun,” said 24-year-old Natalie Blasingame of Roswell.  She went with a friend recently.

“You can bring your own food and drinks, and it (the space) was nice and cozy," she said.

You’re presented with a canvas and paint. An artist gives you step-by-step instruction on how to make your own masterpiece, from pictures chosen for that night's session.

Don’t have any latent Van Gogh genes? It’s okay. Your imagination is welcomed, but unnecessary.  That’s where the ‘Giggles’ in “Just for Giggles” comes in. You’re not expected to produce a museum-quality work; you’re just supposed to have fun.

Plus, have you seen abstract art these days? I’m sure even mine qualifies that shady standard.

Natalie says she was happy with her painting, but her friend wasn't. "I plan on going back, though. It was fun," she said.

If you don't like your first attempt--try, try again. Don’t you wish life had such a re-set button? At Just for Giggles a blank slate is there waiting to be filled, and you’re empowered to make it just the way you want it; or better yet, sloppy, imperfect and fun.

Just like real life.
