The Great Escape: Play the Day Away

Sometimes playtime is fun for the whole family.

When your husband’s out of town on business again, and the babysitter’s on strike because you don’t pay her enough, your options and sanity can seem limited. I discovered a new place that offers both you and the kids a break: Adventure Kids in Cumming.

As busy moms, we’d all love a spa getaway or a night out with the girls…but this is real life and those windows of “me-time” are often slammed shut. Adventure Kids is a place where the kids can run, jump and scream to their heart’s content, and you can sit and let down your guard for an hour or two. Gone is the need to entertain them or tell them to quit jumping on the couch. This new business in the shopping center at Bethelview and Kelly Mill has a huge indoor sandbox, playground and bounce house. They have a central open area utilized for play options that will change each month.

Since it’s all one giant space, you can sit in the middle and flip through a magazine, talk to a friend, or sneak in some work on your laptop with occasional glances around the room to make sure no one’s throwing sand or preparing to “Supermaaaan!” off the slide.

One of the advantages to Adventure Kids is the low cost. Entrance is just $5 per kid, and snacks are under a buck. It’s a great deal, and it’s a cheap price to pay for me to zone out and keep my sanity while the kid's amp up and get out their stir-crazies. It carries me through until dad gets home, or the babysitter comes back, whichever comes first.

Visit Adventure Kids Fridays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

We had our party scheduled at Adventure Kids this past Saturday, but they didn't open at the promised time. Be prepared with a plan B and be sure to call before you go to play!!
