Benefit for Injured Firefighter to be Held Saturday

Local emergency services personnel host benefit at Tony's Sports Bar this Saturday, Nov. 12.

Local firefighters are stepping up to assist one of their own - and asking for the community's help.

Shane Dorfman, a firefighter with the and Cobb County Fire Department, suffered a severe ankle injury that has put him out of work for several weeks. No longer able to put it off, Dorfman will have to have surgery to repair the damage, which is why friends and co-workers are raising money to help offset living costs while he's out.

"Shane usually does events to raise money for cops and firefighters who are seriously ill and injured, which is the reason so many firefighters and police officers are trying to return the favor," said Patrick Apoian, an Atlanta Police Officer and founder of Humble Heroes.
