Captured! Driver in Hit and Run Fatality Apprehended

A 44-year-old Atlanta man has been arrested and charged in the death of a Roswell woman following a hit and run crash over the weekend.

The driver suspected of a hit and run crash thatkilled a 21-year-old woman Saturday morning on GA 400 in Forsyth County has been arrested.

Cpl. David Garrison with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office arrested 44-year-old Walter Edward Bell of Atlanta and charged him with hit and run, reckless driving, homicide by vehicle in the first degree, aggravated assault and felony murder, according to a news release.

Authorities say Jenny McMillan Gutierrez of Roswell was travelling north on GA 400 south of the Pendley Road overpass when her vehicle, a 2003 Mercury Sable, was struck by another vehicle at about 9:42 a.m.

Gutierrez’s car was bumped in the rear by a white sedan attempting to pass. The impact caused the young woman to lose control of her vehicle, leave the roadway, and collide with trees in the wood line on the east side of GA 400.

The driver, now identified as Bell, was operating a white sedan and continued north on GA 400 following the incident.

Gutierrez was transported to Northside Hospital-Forsyth where she died from her injuries.

Bell is currently in the Forsyth County Detention Center and bond has not been set for the charges.
