Elderly Woman Scammed Out of $10,000, Police Ask for Help

Roswell Police need help finding a female who scammed an 81-year-old woman.

The Roswell Police Department have asked the public for help in locating a woman who is accused of scamming an 81-year-old woman out of ten thousand dollars on Nov. 29.

According to information provided by police, the younger woman approached the older woman in the Brannon Square parking lot and told her she was on medication and needed a ride to get something to eat.

Once the elderly woman agreed and the pair were driving, the suspect mentioned an investment opportunity with store. She told the elderly female that she worked at the Dollar Tree on Holcomb Bridge Road and that she knew the owner, who could help her invest in stock options with the store if she had ten thousand dollars.

Believing it to be a great opportunity, the victim drove to her bank and withdrew ten thousand dollars in cash. Returning to the post office parking lot, the older female gave the suspect the cash and didn't notice when she left the area.

Later, the victim went to Dollar Tree and spoke with an employee who told her that Dollar Tree is corporate owned and there isn’t an owner to meet with about investing in the company.

Police describe the suspect as a female, with brown hair and eyes, in her 40’s, wearing a brown shirt and slacks, carrying a large purse or bag. She is believed to be between 5’4 to 5’6 in height, 140 to 150 pounds and have a medium build.

Call Crime Stoppers Atlanta with any information you may have, 404-577-8477.
