New Details Emerge in Hostage Situation that Took Place in Roswell

UPDATE: Friday, May 6 2:26 p.m. - The Roswell Police Department have now added charges against, Tyler Alexander Grogan, the suspect accused of holding a local female and one other person hostage during Monday night's Aspen Pointe apartment complex home invasion.

The additional charges including rape, aggravated assault, aggravated sodomy, armed robbery, four counts of aggravated assault on an officer, two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, criminal damage first and second degree, two counts of false imprisonment and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Police were called to the scene on Monday night, May 2.

According to new details released by the department, Grogan was invited over to the apartment on Gran Crique Drive by the victim’s brother, who was not home at that time. When Grogan entered the apartment, he pulled out a gun and demanded money and jewelry from the female victim. He then hit the victim with his gun and raped her.

A third party called police at 10:22 p.m. When police arrived Grogan is said to have fired three shots at the officers from inside the apartment, according to a statement released by the department. 

After the hostage escaped unharmed early Tuesday morning, local police entered the apartment, with the assistance of the Alpharetta Police Department S.W.A.T. team, and took Grogan into custody without further incident. The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office and the Milton Police Department also assisted Roswell in the situation.

Detectives are still following up on leads and the investigation is still active, according to Roswell.

Grogan is being held in the Fulton County Jail without bond.
