Learn 'ABCs' of Water Safety at North Fulton Hospital Tomorrow

Roswell Fire Department joines Sen. John Albers and Rural/Metro Ambulance to help teach the "ABCs" of water safety Tuesday, Sept. 13.

State Sen. John Albers (R-Roswell) will partner with Rural/Metro Ambulance and Roswell Fire Department to teach the "ABCs" of water safety to children and families at the tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 13.

“The safety of our children and families is paramount. We need be reminded of the dangers and precautions available. I am proud to stand with and Roswell Fire Department to protect our children,” Albers said in a written statement.

The ABCs of water safety are important to know throughout the year, not just in summer when swimming is a popular activity. The ABCs are as follows:

  • Adults should supervise children in and around water. Remove children from the water for any distraction such as a telephone call.
  • Barriers between children and water can save a life. Have a fence that isolates your swimming pool and spa from the home and play yard.
  • Classes in CPR for adults and swimming lessons for children will help everyone know what to do in an emergency.

"The is committed to preventing child drowning and Rural/Metro Ambulance is an excellent partner in this mission,” agreed Ricky Spencer, Roswell Fire chief. "Rural/Metro Ambulance can be counted on, not only during an emergency, but also in our efforts to prevent an emergency from occurring."

“We’re proud to partner with the Roswell Fire Department in reminding our community about the ABC’s of water safety,” said Reg James, Division General Manager for Rural/Metro. “Adult supervision, barriers and classes are the cornerstone of preventing a drowning tragedy."
