Man Presumed Drowned, Child Hit by Car

- Dunwoody Patch
Dunwoody officers are looking for a man who trespassed at the Gables Metropolitan apartments late Friday or early Saturday who is a known sexual offender who has trespassed on the property before, according to police.
Kevin Garfield Martin, 38, is described as 6-foot, 3-inches tall and 165 pounds. He was last seen wearing jeans, a white baseball cap and a blue and white sweatshirt.

- Cartersville Patch
Authorities are searching for a man believed to have drowned near a boat rental facility at a military recreation area on Sandtown Road in Cartersville.

Sgt. Jonathan Rogers said in an e-mail that witnesses reported two men in the water who appeared to be drowning at the U.S. Navy facility about 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
Bystanders rescued one of the men, both of whom are between the ages of 26 and 30, but the other man went missing and may have drowned.
A search for him is in progress. Authorities have not released either man's identity.

Charges have been announced in the on Friday.
Kenneth Gonzalez of Canton, the suspect in the hit-and-run, will face charges of reckless driving, aggravated battery, failure to report accident with injuries, failure to report accident with property damage, hit-and-run, and failure to maintain lane, spokeswoman Brittany Duncan wrote in a brief email to Canton-Sixes Patch on Sunday.
Friday morning, a gray 2006 GMC Sierra struck a construction worker on Interstate 575 South, just before the Towne Lake Parkway exit in Woodstock, and fled the scene.

On Friday, June 1, 2012, at approximately 6:20 p.m., officers from the Gwinnett County Police Department reported to a call of person struck by a vehicle at 1652 Eldonlas Ct. in the Mountain Park area of Gwinnett County. The victim, an 11-year-old female, sustained a head injury as a result of the collision.
It was determined that the child was on a bicycle and was exiting a driveway onto the road when the collision occurred. Though the driver was able to stop, the child struck the side of the vehicle hitting her head; she was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision and was transported to an area hospital for evaluation.
