Roswell Makes Deputy Chief's Promotion Official

Deputy Police Chief Rusty Grant is the new chief at Roswell Police Department.

Deputy Police Chief Rusty Grant has been holding down the fort in Roswell for months, but Tuesday the city made his promotion to chief official, according to the Roswell Police Department Facebook page.

Grant had only been on the job as deputy chief for a few weeks when former Chief Dwayne Orrick was unexpectedly put on administrative leave and then tendered his resignation in early November.

According to the city, Grant has more than 30 years of law enforcement experience with particular expertise in investigating violent crime, property crime, drug enforcement and technology and most recently served as the Special Agent in Charge of the Regional Drug Office in Canton for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI). He has a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Columbus State University and a Bachelor’s of Business Administration from Kennesaw State University.
