Roswell Police Department to Hold Citizens Academy

The city is offering a free nine-week course to residents and business owners covering several aspects of police work.

Ever wonder what police really do? Residents and business owners in Roswell can attend the Roswell Police Departments Citizen’s Police Academy to find out. The free nine week academy is open to the public and allows participants to become familiar with aspects of the department.

Participants receive first-hand knowledge of police operations, the K9 unit, SWAT team, D.U.I. enforcement, 911 Communications Center, operations of the Detention Center and insight into how criminal cases are investigated. Students take part in a graduation ceremony from the course, Thursday, November 10.

The Academy begins Thursday, September 15 and will be held at the Roswell/Alpharetta training facility at 11565 Maxwell Road every Thursday from 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. for the next nine weeks.

Applications are now beginning accepted. Applicants must be 21 years or older, pass a background check and must be a Roswell resident or business owner. Applications are available at the Roswell Police Department between 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday - Friday, or online.
