The lawyer Andrew Wordes e-mailed early Monday morning before his home exploded into flames while Fulton County Marshals were on the property to evict him tells the Atlanta Journal Constitution that he did file the emergency injunction to stop the eviction later on in the same morning.
Wordes had sent Ryan Strickland - the Atlanta attorney who had recently taken on the eviction case for Wordes against Fulton County - an e-mail asking Strickland to let him know as soon as the order had been filed and granted. Unfortunately, it was too late to prevent marshals from showing up around 10:45 a.m. and the fiery explosion that came around 12:45 p.m.
"Please call me as soon as you know something," he wrote shortly before 4 a.m., Monday morning. "If not successful in State court, can we then file in Federal Court?"
Having also copied several close friends on the e-mail, including Lee Fleck, Wordes wrote: "I just want a few people to have this for my own protection."
Fire Chief Ricky Spencer told Roswell Patch that it may take up to several weeks before a full investigative report is released detailing how the explosion occurred.
