More Big Creek Parkway Planning Study on Roswell Council Agenda

Monday's regular business meeting starts at 7 p.m. at City Hall.

Approval of planning study work for the third and fourth phases of the proposed Big Creek Parkway is on the agenda for Monday's Roswell Mayor & Council meeting.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers of City Hall, 38 Hill Street. The scheduled work session that was to have started at 5:30 p.m. Monday has been cancelled.

The city's transportation department is recommending approval of a $350,000 contract to Gresham Smith and Partners of Atlanta to conduct the third and fourth stage planning study for Big Creek Parkway.

These phases would examine transportation connection options between Big Creek Parkway (still in design) and Mansell Road, both east and west of Georgia 400.

Last year Roswell officials unveiled plans for the Big Creek Parkway, which would run parallel to Holcomb Bridge Road and is designed to ease traffic congestion in that corridor near the 400 interchange.

See the attached map for details.

There will be a public meeting on the entire Big Creek Parkway project Jan. 21 at Mimosa Elementary School, 1550 Warsaw Road, from 5-7 p.m.

Also on Monday's agenda are the following items:

  • Approval of a memorandum of understanding between the city and the Fulton County School System for permitting, inspections and land development activity fees for school construction projects;
  • Approval of a a resolution to expand the North Fulton Community Improvement District to include 24 parcels in Alpharetta;
  • Approval to reallocate four Marshals positions to Police Officer I positions, making all officer positions in the Roswell Police Department sworn positions;
  • Approval of a resolution supporting the MARTA North Line Extension to Windward Parkway;
  • Approval of a resolution to seek Federal Emergency Management Association grant funding of nearly $500,000 for self-breathing apparatus for the Roswell Fire Department.
