City Leaders Participate in Green Hair Challenge

Those with the least votes will wear green hair to an upcoming meeting.

Soon a Roswell City Council member and one department head will take "going green" to a whole new level when the Green Hair Challenge "winners" are announced.

As unlikely as it sounds, the unusual challenge is all a part of the city's efforts to bring attention to its sustainability goals - and what could possibly generate more attention than city leaders wearing green hair to a meeting? City residents now have the chance to decide which council member and which city department head will wear the infamous hair to an April council meeting.

Typically, in past challenges, the council member and department head with the most votes must wear the hair, but this year the city is shaking things up by requiring the two city leaders with the least votes to wear the hair.

Each vote costs $1 and the money raised through the challenge will go to purchase CFL light bulbs for a light bulb exchange giveaway open to residents later this year.

Voting began Friday, April 1 and will stay open through Thursday, April 21, end of business. Votes may be cast online at Keep Roswell Beautiful or in person at the Environmental/Public Works Department at City Hall.
