Do You Know Where Your Water Comes From?

Roswell shares a behind the scenes look with residents during its Drinking Water Festival this weekend.

It’s there without question every time you turn on your tap: safe, clean drinking water.

Few of us stop to think and appreciate where our water comes from and the process it goes through to get to us. This weekend, the Roswell Water Utility will will give locals a behind-the-scenes look at the processing of this vital resource at its annual Water Plant Open House and Drinking Water Festival on Saturday, May 4.

"The city’s Drinking Water Festival is a great time to focus on learning more about how we maintain a safe and sustainable supply of drinking water to protect our communities’ health and vitality," said Vicki Culbreth, water conservation coordinator with Roswell’s Water Utility.

The event will give guests the opportunity to tour the water plant and learn more about the source of their drinking water and how it is treated. Participants can also enjoy a free cookout and learn about water conservation practices and the city’s toilet rebate program.

Winning posters from the 2nd Annual Drinking Water Week Poster Contest will also be featured during the event. Posters will then be displayed in the Roswell City Hall Rotunda from May 5-11. Contest winners Cassandra Manrique from Elkins Pointe Middle School and Matthew and Megan Greenberg from Fulton Sunshine Academy Elementary were recently recognized at a Roswell City Council meeting.
