Fulton County Property Assessment Appeal Deadline Tomorrow

If you've still got issues with your Fulton County property tax assessment, tomorrow's your last chance to appeal.

After finding errors in its assessment formula, Fulton County sent out corrected property assessment notices to approximately 240,000 property owners. But tomorrow, June 21, is the appeal deadline for Roswell property owners who did not receive a corrected property assessment notice. Property owners can file an appeal to challenge the appraised property value listed on the assessment notice. The property tax amount listed on the notice is an estimate and cannot serve as the basis for an appeal.  

Corrected notices were sent to Atlanta property owners impacted by a formula error in their property tax estimates. Property owners in Roswell, Alpharetta, College Park, East Point, Fairburn, Hapeville, Milton, Palmetto and Union City were sent corrected notices because a city property tax line was omitted from the property tax estimates on the initial notices.  Property owners who received a corrected notice have until July 26 to file their appeals.

The final “Understanding Your Assessment Notice” public meeting will be held on Friday, June 17 at the South Service Center, 5600 Stonewall Tell Road, College Park from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.  The meetings are designed to educate property owners on the changes to property assessment notices and the appeals process brought on by Senate Bill 346. The new legislation calls for every property owner in Georgia to receive a property tax assessment notice every year.
