Municipal Election Qualifying Begins Today

Roswell opens up election qualifications today through Friday.

Think you have ideas to improve Roswell? Maybe you should run for city council; the city opens qualifying for municipal elections today, Aug. 29 through Friday, Sept. 2.

Council Posts 1, 2 and 3, as well as the municipal judgeship are currently up for reelection. Currently, council members Rich Dippolito, Becky Wynn, Betty Price and Judge Maurice Hilliard hold the offices. 

So far only Price and Mike Nyden have qualified for council posts 3 and 1, respectively. So far, council members Wynn and Dippolito have not qualified, although Dippolito for Post 1 again.

Qualifying fees for council members is $540 and municipal judge is $2,730.

Qualifying takes place 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday at city hall, located 38 Hill Street, Suite 115. Elections will be held Tuesday, Nov. 8. Go online to learn more about qualifications and elections.
