New Cultural Arts Center Coordinator Takes Over

Tucker resident Jess Wells tapped to replace retiring Sandy Mabry, following a nationwide search of 200 applicants for the position.

The City of Roswell has hired Jess Wells as its Coordinator. Wells replaces longtime CAC coordinator Sandra Mabry, who recently announced her retirement.

The Cultural Arts Center is a 600-seat theater in downtown Roswell that hosts audiences for the city's performing arts productions, as well as corporate meetings. The Roswell Historical Society and City of Roswell Archives and Research Library is also located at the CAC.

Wells was selected out of a pool of approximately 200 applicants from across
the country, and brings experience to the position that includes serving as the production manager for the Gwinnett Civic and Cultural Center’s 700-seat theater, and after founding and managing his own theater company in Asheville, N.C.

“Jess is the perfect guy for the job," said G. Morgan Timmis, Historic and Cultural Affairs manager. "He has the energy, creativity, knowledge and expertise to help us take this facility to the next level. We’re excited to have him on board to help us make the Cultural Arts Center even more of an exciting and vital hub of the arts in Roswell.”

Wells earned a B.A. in Drama from the University of North Carolina at Asheville, and is also a graduate of Interlochen Arts Academy, where he received a degree in theater. He is also a singer, violinist and guitarist, and has performed professionally.

"What a contribution to Roswell and the Roswell Arts Community Jess will be,” said Cultural Arts board chair Lee J. Howard. “His expertise and experience in multiple arts disciplines, as well as in the technical and behind-the-scenes aspects of those disciplines, make him an exciting addition to our thriving Arts community."

Wells and his wife Jennifer live in Tucker with their two daughters.
