Roswell Mayor Jere Wood told the Atlanta Regional Roundtable his, and other neighboring mayors, concerns regarding the Transportation Action during a forum Wednesday night.

"The mayors of Fulton and Dekalb support the Transportation Act but not without reservations…We set our support on two things. One is the creation of a Regional Transit Authority," he said. "We have asked them to remove, from the transportation projects list, operations and maintenance for the transit projects. That would free up more money for transit, capital projects [and] free up more money for roads…It would shorten the time that we’re going to eventually see a Regional Transit Authority with equity and funding from all of the citizens that participate, so you would no longer be treated unfairly."

Sandy Springs Mayor Eva Galambos pressed the Roundtable on widening Hammond Drive.

Hammond Drive did not make the draft list, however a finalized list of projects will be announced by Oct. 15.

"Widening of Hammond Drive has been a part of our Comprenhesive Land Use Plan, which was adopted with huge community input," Galambos said. "It was then the number one project in the North Fulton regional transporation plan."
