Nyden Announces Plans to Run for City Council

Roswell resident, Mike Nyden, has given his declaration of intent to run for Roswell City Council Post 1 this fall.

Mike Nyden, a Roswell homeowner and local business owner, is planning to seek election to the Roswell City Council this fall.

Nyden, who has been extremely vocal against the Fulton County Schools redistricting endeavor and helped organize the Roswell Residents for Reasonable Redistricting group in recent months, will run for the Post 1 seat currently occupied by Councilman Rich Dippolito.

The quality of life and local citizens are Nyden's main reasons for decided to run for council in his "adopted hometown."

"I believe the city desperately needs leadership which will truly listen to the concerns of all the citizens," Nyden said, in a statement sent to Roswell Patch. "I have a long track record of involvement [within] the community and active [participation] in advocating issues of great concern to Roswell, I will continue that once elected."

With a background in business, Nyden, 59, and his wife of over 19 years, Trudy, have called Roswell home for over seven years. He is the president of Business Essentials and Associates, a local business.

A spokesperson for Nyden said he has mailed his letter of intent to run and will be hosting a campaign kick-off in June. According to the Georgia Government Transparency and Campaign Finance Commission website Councilmember Rich Dippolito, who was first elected during 2007, filed his declaration of intent to run for re-election last November. 

Qualifying with the city takes place the week of August 29-September 2.
