Proposed Roswell UDC Gets First Reading Monday

The 60-day public review period concludes as the Mayor & Council begin the final stages of the approval process.

Public comment is invited on Monday as the Roswell Mayor and Council will get the First Reading of the Ordinance and Map Review of the proposed Unified Development Code

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers, 38 Hill Street.

A public comment period on the UDC or any other topic will be part of the meeting. There is a five-minute maximum per person.

The meeting concludes a 60-day public review period for the UDC, which would overhaul and streamline most of the city's existing zoning code.

The proposal to be given the First Reading on Monday reflects changes made or directed by the Mayor and Council at its last work session on the subject on Jan. 6.

Here's a draft of what will be included at the First Reading; the entire document may be downloaded at that link.

The UDC effort, which was begun in 2012, is part of the 2030 Comprehensive Plan, which includes revitalizing areas in decline, providing additional housing options and reconciling conflicting rules as means to attracting new development.

The Second Reading for the UDC is Feb. 10, and if it is adopted at that time, the new ordinance would take effect in March.
