Riverwalk Trail Project Open House To Be Held

Roswell hold an open house to garner public input on the Riverwalk Trail Project.

A city located on a river should make the most of its good fortune. That's the idea behind Roswell's Riverwalk Trail Project, which has been in the works for years.

City officials are now hoping to finally bring the project to fruition, according Roswell City Councilman Kent Igleheart.

"We're ready to build this thing; and we have the money set up to do that," he said at a recent council meeting.

Together with the National Park Service, the city will hold a public information open house to present options for the Roswell Riverwalk Trail Connection Project on Thursday, March 10 from 6 – 8:30 p.m. at Roswell River Landing, 245 Azalea Drive.

However, because of the location of the project, extensive public input is required by the National Park Service. The city has held a number of public meetings about Riverwalk Trail over the years, but they're hoping this will be one of the final open houses before they get the okay to begin moving forward with the project.

According to the city, Phases IV and V of the Riverwalk Trail (Willeo Road Trail) would provide connectivity between the existing trail system on Azalea Drive and Willeo Park located near the Fulton and Cobb County border.

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting to give their feedback on the proposed project alternatives. Those unable to attend, but who still wish to add their comments may e-mail rrpd@roswellgov.com.

For more information about the open house, please contact Joe Glover or Jeff Pruitt from the city of Roswell at 770-641-3705 or Rick Slade from the National Park Service at 678-538-1321.
