Roswell Approves Low Income Housing Grant

The city will once again participate in the HOME Investment Partnership Program.

The Roswell City Council on Monday approved a measure to accept a grant from the 2014 HOME Investment Partnership Program.

The vote grants the city $93,871, which the city will dole out through an application process that will be approved by the mayor and council at a future date.

Council members also approved applying for a New Initiative Grant Program in the amount of $1,000 with the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association.

The program is designed to promote innovative programs offered by parks and recreation services.

Roswell would use the grant to offset the cost of registration of its new Adaptive Friendship Camp, a full-day summer camp program for children, regardless of their diagnosis, with disabilities.

The council also voted 5-1, with council member Betty Price opposing, to approve a contract with Goodwill of North Georgia to provide two trailers at the city's Recycling Center for clothing and other hard goods drop-off services.
