Roswell City Council Approves Used Car Sales on Alpharetta Highway

Five Brothers Automotive moved beyond auto repair into auto sales.

got approval from the Roswell City Council to start selling used cars from the Alpharetta Highway shop location where they currently repair, detail and tow vehicles.

During last night's regular zoning meeting, the council heard from the attorney of the five brothers, who immigrated from Uzbekistan in 2005 to become full U.S. citizens. The brothers - two of whom own homes in Roswell - bought the automotive repair shop adjacent to Hog Wallow Creek, which had been vacant for approximately two years. They have taken extra steps toward good stewardship of the three acre property through recycling and have been working with the city to meet zoning conditions, as well as provide extra environmental protection for the creek.

Councilman Kent Igleheart commended the brothers, who were all in attendance, for their hard work in meeting conditions placed upon the business by the city's Community Development Department.

"You can be one of the first to show how good it can look," he said, referring to the city's attempt at improving that section of Alpharetta Highway, south of Crossville Road.

The council approved the new zoning conditions, which allow the business to begin selling some of the used vehicles they've done work on.

-The council also approved a first reading of the text amendment to a city ordinance, allowing up to 15 percent of parking spaces at a business to be designated for compact cars. Currently the city requires parking spaces to be 9 foot by 12 foot or 10 foot by 18 foot, but the new amendment would okay 8.5 foot by 16 foot spaces.
