Roswell Cleaning Up Its Codes

Community input meetings will be held in August.

The city of Roswell is in the process of "cleaning up" its zoning codes, and is giving the community a chance to learn more and share feedback at some August meetings.

According to the city's website, its codes are outdated and cumbersome, so it developed the "Unified Development Code (UDC)—a single tool that addresses contemporary development and zoning practices in a format that is consistent, streamlined and easily understood by property owners, residents, staff, administrators, developers, and elected and appointed officials. The new code will help make Roswell more economically competitive by increasing the certainty of the application and development process."

The project was started in May 2012 and should be finalized in January next year. Drafts of the document and map are available at www.roswellgov.com/UDC.
The community is invited to the following meetings:

  • Monday, Aug. 19, 7 to 9 p.m., East Roswell Park (community room), 9000 Fouts Road
  • Tuesday, Aug. 20, 7 to 9 p.m., Roswell Area Park, Bill Johnson Community Activity Building, 10495 Woodstock Road
  • Wednesday, Aug. 21
  • 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.: City Hall, Room 220
  • 7 to 9 p.m.: Hembree Park (community room), 850 Hembree Road
The public can also attend City Council work sessions on the UDC, taking place throughout July, August and September. See schedule here.
