Roswell Elections Qualifying is This Week

Candidates for the mayoral and three council races must file paperwork by Friday.

Qualifying for Roswell municipal elections takes place all this week.

The mayoral post and council posts 4,5 and 6 will be determined on the Nov. 5 non-partisan election date.

Candidates must apply in person at City Hall between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Here's more on what it takes to qualify, and how much it costs to sign up.

The Neighbor reported last week that council incumbents Kent Ingleheart (Post 4), Jerry Orlans (Post 5) and Nancy Diamond (Post 6) have indicated they will run for re-election, but that Mayor Jere Wood hasn't gone that far.

The elections come against the backdrop of the city's proposed Unified Development Code, which figures to be one of the dominant issues.

After several public hearings last week, the city council is in the midst of work sessions to flesh out the UDC. The next such hearing takes place in late September.
