Roswell Passes 'Balanced Budget,' Outsources Some City Jobs

The FY2012-2013 budget has some major differences in it from previous years.

After some key adjustments, the unanimously approved a budget that maintains taxes and reduces expenditures through a consolidation of staff.

With an approved General Fund of $59.6 million - down $3.7 million from the current year's budget - the FY 2012-2013 budget However, it still holds some fairly important changes from prior years, including .

Here are some of the key changes to the final budget:

  • Of the $80,592 left over to program from the General Fund, $67,946 went to "principal and interest" for the turf fields. The turf field financing moved from the Recreation Participation Fund to the General Fund for new artificial turf fields;
  • $12,646 went back into operations contingency respectively;
  • The $110,000 for Recreation and Parks facility maintenance was pushed to be reviewed for funding midyear once sales tax revenue is calculated; 
  • A $30,000 expense was approved for hiring a new part-time PR specialist out of the general fund;
  • A $10,000 expenditure was approved for a new guardrail at Riverside Drive and Azalea Drive out of the capital improvements budget.
