Roswell Resident Receives Hate Mail Over Atlanta Jewish Times Publisher Comments

Marcy Levinson-Brooks, publisher of AtlantaJewishNews.com, deals with the fallout of comments calling for the assassination of President Barack Obama.

Roswell resident and publisher of AtlantaJewishNews.com, Marcy Levinson-Brooks is working hard to make the distinction between her publication and The Atlanta Jewish Times after publisher Andrew Adler made comments suggesting Isreal should "take out" President Barack Obama.

"The AtlantaJewishNews.com is not affiliated in any capacity with The Atlanta Jewish Times print publication owned by Andrew Adler," Levinson-Brooks wrote in a recent Jan. 20 release.

Adler's Jan. 13 editorial, “What would you do?” proposed the potential assassination of President Barack Obama among two other options to protect Isreal. He told Gawker.com that he "regrets" his comments and "wasn't advocating for Obama's assasination."

"I am appalled by the nature, tone and overall insanity of Adler’s editorial column. My company absolutely condemns this printed insanity," Levinson-Brooks wrote in her release, after receiving angry correspondance actually meant for The Atlanta Jewish Times.

She noted that she had received reports the Atlanta office of the FBI, as well as the Secret Service had been notified of Adler’s piece.

A former staffer at the Atlanta Jewish Times herself, Levinson-Brooks was "fired" two months after Adler bought and took over the print newspaper in the spring of 2009. She started AtlantaJewishNews.com in January of 2010 to "fill the gap in Atlanta's news reporting that had not accurately depicted the vibrant Jewish community of more than 12,000 Jews" locally, Levinson-Brooks wrote in her release.

"I was encouraged to be a totally online presence to reach more readers and do a better and faster job of reporting the news," she stated.

Levinson-Brooks went on to say that AtlantaJewishNews.com has become a very well-read news source.

"We stand for the United States, we stand with Israel and we stand for quality in news," she wrote.
