Roswell Takes Final Budget Vote Tonight

Roswell City Council members will vote on the second and final reading for the 2012 fiscal year proposed budget tonight.

Barring further changes to Roswell's budget, the city council will vote tonight to keep the current 5.45 millage rate instead of making a reduction, as originally anticipated.

Despite a proposal by Mayor Jere Wood to reduce the 2012 millage rate to 5.34 mils, the council voted to approve maintaining it as it is this year during the budget's first reading at last week's on May 23.

Prior to the vote the city was mulling a proposed 2012 general fund of $56.7 million, which still allowed for $26 million in reserves and $571,000 in additional program spending. However, the council amended the budget to keep the current millage rate, without which would have lost the city $500,000 for road resurfacing.
