Roswell Candidates Forums Scheduled

The Roswell Woman's Club and RoswellNEXT will be sponsoring events in late October.

The Roswell Woman’s Club will sponsor a Candidate Forum at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, in the Council Chambers at Roswell City Hall, according to Julian Tomesh, club president.

All six candidates running for three seats on the Roswell City Council have been invited to the Forum, as well as Mayor Jere Wood, who is running unopposed.

Questions from Roswell residents may be submitted in advance, either through the club’s website, roswellwomansclub.org, or the evening of the Forum before it begins.

Moderator for the Forum will be Hatcher Hurd. Candidates for office will make brief opening statements, then give timed responses to questions selected and posed by the moderator.

There will be an opportunity for a final summation before the Forum concludes. No questions will be taken directly from the audience during the Forum.

Doors to City Hall will open at 6 p.m.

The Roswell Woman’s Club is an all-volunteer, not-for-profit service organization whose common interest is to support Roswell in the areas of educational scholarships and grants, human services, cultural arts, historical preservation, and urban improvement.

RoswellNEXT is having a candidates debate on Tuesday, Oct. 29, at the High Meadows School.

The debate starts at 7 p.m. at the school, 1055 Willeo Road. 

The debate will be a structured question-and-answer session moderated by RoswellNEXT and will touch upon civic, social, and economic issues facing Roswell. 

Further debate particulars are forthcoming and will be sent via email and mailing address, as indicated when Qualified, to all Candidates.

City Council Post 4 Candidates: Kent Igleheart – Incumbent; Harvey Smith.

City Council Post 5 Candidates: Jerry Orlans – Incumbent; Eric Schumacher.

City Council - Post 6 Candidates: Nancy Diamond – Incumbent; Kendra Myers Cox.

Mayor Jere Wood is running unopposed.
