Alpharetta Tops Centennial in Region Baseball Matchup

The Knights lose to the Raiders 10-4.

The Centennial Knights dropped a Region 6AAAAA baseball game to the Alpharetta Raiders on Thursday. 

The Raiders opened the scoring with a first inning solo home run by center fielder Kenneth Reynolds and then held Centennial scoreless through the second inning.

Alpharetta added two more runs in the top half of the third inning.  In their half of the third, Centennial's bats came alive.  Third baseman Sean Muller hit a solo homer and pitcher Dustin Beggs followed with a two run homer of his own.  Another Knights' run scored on an error giving Centennial a 4-3 lead going into the fourth inning.

Neither team scored in the fourth inning.  Then in the fifth, Alpharetta's Kenneth Reynolds added another homer to his tally, this one scoring two runs.  In the sixth inning, the Raiders' posted four more runs including a solo homer by right fielder Cameron Stadele and a run scored on a perfectly executed squeeze play bunt by shortstop Harrison Hunter.  

The Knights were unable to answer with any runs of their own.  Alpharetta scored one more run in the top of the seventh.  When Centennial went three up and three down in their half of the inning, the Raiders picked up the 10-4 victory.

Centennial is now 16-9 on the season and 6-5 in Region 6AAAAA.  The Knights take on the Milton Eagles on Friday.  Alpharetta finishes the regular season at 14-11 and 8-4 in the region.
