Blessed Trinity defeats Lovett 5-4

Titans come back in the sixth to win.

The Blessed Trinity Titan baseball team hosted Lovett on Friday and came away with a 5-4 victory over the Lions.

Brett Marks started the game for the Titans going five full inning and giving up only a single run.

Lovett jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but Blessed Trinity scored twice on wild pitches in the bottom of the first to post a 2-1 advantage over the Lions.Β

The Titans scored another run in the fourth inning when right fielder Matt Pelt scored from second on a Lovett throwing error.

Lovett put up three runs in the top of the sixth inning.Β  After loading the bases against the Titans, one run was forced in when a batter was hit by a pitched ball.Β  The Lions tied the game with a run that was scored on a wild pitch and went ahead 4-3 when catcher Brooks Schoen singled to drive in the Lions final run.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Blessed Trinity's catcher Ross Hampton doubled to left center.Β  He was replaced with pinch runner, Kyle Marchuk, who advanced to third and then scored to tie the game on another Lovett wild pitch.Β  A second double in the inning scored by Matt Pelt, giving the Titans the lead and the win when Lovett failed to score in the seventh inning.
