Crosswalk Moved at Roswell North

The elementary school has switched the location of a previously dangerous crosswalk.

Fulton County Schools has worked in conjunction with the Roswell Police Department and city staff to relocate a crosswalk at Roswell North Elementary School.

The crosswalk had previously received a number of complaints and was a hazard to students who were crossing Woodstock Road on their way to or from school, according to Roswell Police. Currently the crosswalk has been moved to the intersection of Woodstock Road and Broadmeadow Cove, directly in front of the school’s front entrance.

According to a statement released by the city, a crossing guard will be present at the crosswalk from 7 a.m. - 7:40 a.m. But the Roswell Police Department still ask commuters to use alternative routes and avoid the area if they are able in order to cut down on traffic congestion.

"The true message to get across is that people need to re-route if they don’t have any children to drop off at that school so that it doesn’t tie up traffic out there," said department spokeswoman Lisa Holland.
