Elkins Pointe Students Travel to the Nation's Capital

Eight grade students got some first hand historical landmark experience.

One hundred and forty eight grade students from traveled nearly 650 miles to visit the nation’s capital in Washington, D.C. several weeks ago. 

The purpose of the trip was to connect lessons learned in the classroom with historical landmarks and sites. A guided tour through D.C. included the honor of presenting the wreath during the changing of the guard ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. 

For many of the students, the Feb. 16-20 trek north was their first trip to Washington, D.C.

The 13 teachers who chaperoned the trip reinforced classroom learning, while making sure the group had some fun too. School administration publicly thanked teachers, parents and PTA for making the trip possible.
