African Americans at the Smith Plantation Exhibit

The Smith Plantation Home, 935 Alpharetta Street, will showcase the history of African Americans who worked at Smith Plantation and take a larger look at African American slaves in the South.

The exhibit sheds light on those who served the Smith family and journeyed with them from the coast. It will demonstrate how the Smith Home began as a place where African Americans labored as slaves and evolved into a home that was lived in by an African American woman.

Admission is included in the cost of a regular tour ticket. The home is open to visitors Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. For more information call 770-641-3978.
