Eva Schloss Visits The Cottage School

Holocaust survivor, Eva Schloss, spent some time at The Cottage School when she came to Roswell last week.

As a child, Eva Schloss survived the Holocaust, became a wife, mother and grandmother. But her work as a humanitarian has lead her to be a friend and teacher to many who have come to learn her story.

Schloss stopped by The Cottage School last Thursday, Mar. 10 for a chat with parents, students and teachers about her life.

It was forty years since the end of World War II when Eva first began to share the story she recently shared with The Cottage School. She has since written two books and spoken to more than one thousand audiences about her experiences. In 1999 Eva was invited to join United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan signing the Anne Frank Peace Declaration.

Escaping her Austrian homeland, spending two years in hiding, being captured on her 15th birthday, spending nine months in the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp, her repatriation in Holland, the death of her beloved father and brother, the poison of bitterness, the burden of grief and the integration of loss, were just some of the subjects Schloss touched upon during her recent visit.

She continues to make appearances and delivers talks to groups as a way of trying to end the violence and bigotry that continue to plague our world, according to a representative of The Cottage School.
