Fellowship Christian Student Appointed To Coast Guard Academy

Connor Nelson, 17, who attends the Roswell school, will be sworn in on June 30 as part of the class of 2018.

Fellowship Christian School student Connor Nelson has been appointed to attend the United States Coast Guard Academy. 

Connor, 17, will be sworn in as a member of the class of 2018 on June 30.

The U.S. Coast Guard Academy, located in New London, Connecticut, is the smallest of the country's five military service academies and is an accredited college for future Coast Guard officers.

Admission to the Coast Guard Academy is highly competitive and less than 300 appointments are offered annually from a pool of over 2,500 applicants.  

Cadets receive a full tuition scholarship and monthly stipend for a five year service commitment to the Coast Guard upon graduation.  All graduates receive bachelor of science degrees and are guaranteed a position of leadership as a commissioned officer in the United States Coast Guard.
