'FUNRaiser' to Benefit Roswell North Students Underway

Thanks to Angela D'Amario of the Roswell North PTA for the following information about its "FUNRaiser" this month with The Roswell Tap to assist needy children at the school, and their families:

To help give Roswell North Elementary school students in need an equal chance at success, The Roswell Tap is kicking off a month-long fundraiser (Jan. 4-Feb. 2) to benefit Roswell North’s Bears Care.

To make sure Bears Care can help more Roswell families in 2014, The Roswell Tap will be raising funds through a variety of fun activities. To participate, local residents can:

Dine at The Roswell Tap from Jan. 4-Feb. 2.  The Roswell Tap will donate money from every customer’s bill. To participate, diners must mention “Bears Care” or show their Loyalty Card. The Roswell Tap will donate 5 percent of the total bill to the nonprofit.

Watch the Playoff Games at The Roswell Tap. Every Playoff Saturday and Sunday in January, The Roswell Tap will host a variety of fundraising activities, including cornhole and dart tournaments, themed team FANfood and FANtastic drink specials, and the donation of 5 percent on all sales during the games.

Bring the Whole Family to the Super Bowl Party. For a $30 donation on Feb. 2, each guest will enjoy:

• A FANfood Superbowl buffet featuring a Build-Your-Own Jeff Foxworthy Grit Chip Nacho Bar
• Festival games on the lawn, including football toss, pop-a-shot and more
• A special Super Bowl Makeover Package for the Moms courtesy of Aura Hair & Makeup
• Super Bowl commercial & game trivia during halftime, with $100 in restaurant prize credit
• Finals for the cornhole and dart tournaments ($100 in restaurant prize credit)

Two parents started Bears Care in 2011, in order to provide an additional layer of support for children in need at Roswell North Elementary School (RNE). To date, Bears Care has helped more than 150 kids at RNE. 

“This amazing program helps to fill the gap with resources that go over and beyond what schools are typically able to provide,” says Kindra Smith, principal at RNE. “We are blessed to have a parent community that cares about the overall welfare of all of our students.”

With the funds raised, Bears Care will assist even more students and families with their individual needs for success – food, supplies, shelter, transportation etc. – and will also launch a one-of-a-kind tutoring program that empowers parents and high-school students to help tutor kids at Roswell North Elementary.  

“This year, we’ll be widening the playing field so our kids have an equal opportunity for success, so we hope Roswell and North Fulton residents will come join us for good food and fun times at The Roswell Tap,” says Kristen Harding, co-founder of Bears Care. “With everyone’s help, we can make sure RNE’s kids don’t have to deal with adult stresses, can enjoy being kids and get a quality education.” 

The Roswell Tap Loyalty Card for Bears Care can be used each and every day of the year to keep the spirit of this special FUNraising effort alive year round. “Our goal is to allow all of our Charity Partners and their supporters to benefit from normal everyday activities, like lunch or dinner out or a special night of entertainment at The Tap,” explained Jerome Stuart of the Roswell Tap. “Every time they patronize The Tap from now on and mention Bears Care, the Charity will get a 5% donation.”
