Hembree Springs Celebrates Johnny Appleseed's Birthday

Students recently learned about and celebrated Appleseed's birthday.

Recently, the Kindergarten classes at Hembree Springs Elementary celebrated the birthday of John Chapman - better known as Johnny Appleseed.

Students were encouraged to wear red in honor of his big day. They were actively engaged in several activities throughout the week, including sampling different  treats made with apples, learning how to plant an apple tree, making an Appleseed puppet and learning all about the different states that Johnny traveled through planting his apple seeds.

Students also made a special pot hat that he was well known for wearing throughout his travels. At Hembree Springs, Johnny will always be remembered for his kindness to animals, the earth and most of all his love for apples.
