Local Student Named Scholar by Bill Gates' Foundation

The Roswell student was honored for his strong leadership, academic achievements and community service.

Jalani Malik Wynn, 18, of Roswell, has been named a 2012 Gates Millennium Scholar. He is among 1,000 students nationwide, out of more than 24,000 applicants, to receive this honor.

The distinction carries with it a substantial scholarship that promises to meet a student’s unmet financial need from undergraduate studies in all disciplines, through doctoral studies. Wynn is in North Springs High School's dual magnet programs in math/science and music.

The Gates Millennium Scholars program - funded by a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation - is awarded to outstanding African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American, and Hispanic American students. This year’s program drew a record number of applicants.
